The Namekian glanced cautiously at the woman who stood before him, garbed in wolves' skins.
"You called me here?"
The green slug man's eyes gazed downward, unsure of what to think of her.
"Yes, I...I needed someone with your...capabilities. The humans are growing restless, hungry. But, we Namekians don't have enough food to give them, as all we need to sustain life is water, as you may or may not know."
Meredith shrugged. The Namekian looked uneasy in her presence.
"Anyway, I wanted to ask if you could go out, hunting, bring in some food for the humans."
Meredith's stare caused him to shift his feet awkwardly.
"You will be rewarded..."
Meredith shrugged, leaving the building. The Namekian shrugged as well, shaking his shoulders as the woman left. She tended to have this effect on some people.
As Meredith left the village, returning to the forest, an area she felt most comfortable in, she felt uneasy. There was something different about today than normal...everything was silent, no animals making any sound, no rustling of new born deer still learning to move quietly. Even the wind blown trees hardly made a noise, as they waved silently. Meredith got down on her hands and feet, crouched like a wolf. She ran her left hand over the dirt, feeling the imprints of different animals, while keeping her eyes up, searching for any sign of movement.
The prints left by the animals were deep, and skewed. This meant that they were running from something, but from what? As far as Meredith could see, there was nothing to run from. It was just a normal day...so what could possibly have scared the whole forest into silence?
