Saiyans had become the most dominant race in the universe, but they had divided themselves too far among the stars and planets. Some of them went rogue, deciding to make their own small factions and keeping out of sight of their previous empire. Others left the militant forces, having grown tired of fighting weaklings, and realizing the empire was in danger of collapse. These individuals took whatever slaves their empire were willing to part with in order to try and keep supplies going in. One such saiyan was a man who went by the name of Aperu. He was known to have been a great hunter of sorts and, uncharacteristic of Saiyans, to be one who shied away from fighting for sport. He also had a knack for going after women, which led to him meeting Artangia's human mother, Senjia.
Aperu had taken a part on the Earth that seemed to be fertile enough to support some sort of vegetation, along with any remaining wildlife that were spared from the destruction of the saiyan invasion. Aperu's reputation had been known well for his mean streak, along with his womanizing behavior. Being that he did not know how to take care of the land, he was given slaves that happened to be farmers before being enslaved. He would also be inspected on every three Earth months, as well as give whatever supplies he's found. These were the conditions that Aperu was given, in which he agreed. How he managed to do so was by the simple reasoning that supplies had to be gathered to keep the soldiers healthy.
The saiyan's plantation would be inspected for the first Earth year, to determine whether this idea was a good one or not. The creatures that lingered were mostly small animals or enormous predators that needed killing in order for them to get started. Aperu engaged in hunting these creatures and punishing the slaves with monstrous technique, nearly killing some of them. This would recur for the next few months, but eventually, the necessary supply was met. Even after this, though, Aperu dealt his torture.
However, he was kinder to Senjia than the other slaves, simply because she was a woman. She took advantage of him, so that she could ease punishments on the others. Eventually though, she developed feelings for him and led to her becoming pregnant with Artangia. Aperu, at first, was disgusted at the thought of having a half breed child, but Senjia eased his mind on the issue, telling him that it wasn't all bad, that he would be a strong man. This, while she did love him, was a part of a plan she developed. While Artangia was half-saiyan, he was half-human and she planned to have him help her and the other slaves.
Artangia was kept a secret when his mother was pregnant with him, Senjia having been moved to a private building Aperu had made for her. This was to make sure that, when the soldiers came to collect on supplies, they would not grow suspicious. When he was born, the building was destroyed so that evidence of what had transpired wouldn't remain. Aperu brought the son into his home and gave him what he needed as he grew up. When he could speak and walk, Aperu initiated him into combat training. He was first put through rigorous physical training that was thought to stunt his growth, though it was found it it wouldn't be the case.
The young half-saiyan, at the age of 7, then was taught how to use his energy and how to hunt animals for food. Artangia didn't have large quantities of energy to use at his disposal, but he showed remarkable control over it. Due to his hunting training, he became a nimble and tough man that could throw a punch. He was taught how to read, as well as how to use individual technologies like scouters and computers. Since Artangia was also a half-human and Aperu was a kind enough person, Artangia was able to spend some time with Senjia and the other slaves. He came to an understanding that slavery had been killing them and his mother had been doing her best to minimize the amount of punishments they had for disobedience... It also gave him another realization, when he became a young adolescent of 14 years old.
Artangia realized that he was a child born to stave off his father's anger, that he wasn't an actually wanted child. He developed hate for his father and mother. His father because of his anger and punishments for the people Artangia came to know and care for. His hate for his mother because she was manipulating his father, even if it was for the good of the others. It made him wonder if they were both going to manipulate him for their own ends. This thought lasted for a few years, as he grew distant for a while from the two of them. However, when he reached the age of 20, this thought faded away.

The inspectors had not been aware of Artangia being only half-saiyan, as he had the tail of one and the normal characteristics of saiyans. They dismissed the suspicions of human traits under the thought that humans and saiyans were nearly identical to each other. He was registered as Aperu's son from a distant planet from the outer reaches of the Saiyan Empire from back when Aperu was a young punishment enforcer.

He developed the ability to sense energy, so he no longer required the use of scouters, except for communicating. Artangia had gone out to hunt for whatever creatures that he could find. They had been below the necessary amount and needed a large amount of meat in order to do so. Unfortunate for him, he would have to find a dinosaur to take down to fill the quota. The closest one had been a few miles off and, since Artangia hadn't learned how to fly, going through the wrecked landscape would prove to be difficult, despite his nimbleness.
Artangia made the choice to go for the creature, alerting his father that he would need to direct them to his scouter location. His father, though, told him he had to get it back to the land before they arrived. Knowing this, Artangia tried to devise a plan in order to bring it closer to the farmland. The creature had been a T-Rex, a meat eater, so luring it back would be easy... Or so he would think. Artangia tried to taunt it to chase after him, but the creature proved difficult. For the whole day, the he tried, but it had been unsuccessful. As he was trying to do so, he had not realized the scouter had malfunctioned, preventing him hearing his father's call.
What happened next caused Artangia to develop deep-seated anger in the saiyan empire. Power levels in the direction of his home had been dropping left and right. He abandoned the creature, blasting, jumping, and clawing his way through the terrain. He felt high power levels at the farm as the energy levels dropped around them. His father's, before he even got close, was the last to go. Smoke billowed from the land, as Artangia arrived on the scene to see the three saiyans' silhouettes leaving the scene. He rushed over, looking for his friends. Their bodies were strewn about the land, painting it just like the rest of the landscape: Bloodied and destroyed. Artangia shouted, looking around for Senjia and Aperu. Their energy signatures, while faint, still seemed to remain. He sprinted to their location, to find each holding the other's hands, despite their limbs broken and torn.
They both noticed him and simply gave him a smile, trying to say something to him before they passed on. However, they could not utter a word before passing on. A symbol was left on a wall that still stood up. It was one of the saiyan empire's raid squads. For whatever reason, the empire had dubbed this home project of theirs' no longer needed and destroyed it, along with the people working in it! Artangia cried in anger, slamming his fist into the ground. Artangia looked at his father, seeing his armor on him. He took it off and put it on himself, the armor fitting him snugly. Artangia then grabbed a necklace on her mother and put it around him. The half-saiyan wished to have mementos from them, as he sought revenge on the group.
The half-saiyan made his way over to Rad City over the next few months, braving the harsh environment that lingered on the Earth. He eventually reached and sought work as a fighter, so that he could learn more about the saiyan empire so he could seek revenge. It has been about a year and a half since then and he has now become a strong fighter.
