Name: Sharithra of Zauneld ((also goes by ‘Shari’))
Age: 17
Race: Alien (Baenarn)
Class: Warrior
Appearance:
History: The Baenarn are a race of people that resemble pointy-eared humanoids with the lower body of a large snake. Their scales, eyes, and hair have been known to be practically any color of the visible spectrum, though they’re largely influenced by whatever clan they’re born into. They have a forked tongue and sharp teeth. Behind their first row of teeth, there is a less prominent second row of teeth lying just behind the first. This helps them break down a wider variety of food, as well as move in to replace any teeth if they’re lost for some reason.
Baenarn are generally seen as lazy and aloof to outsiders. Food and water were always somewhat scarce given their planet’s environment. It was because of this that they slept quite a bit more often than other races to conserve energy. The food situation has changed for the better over last few decades with introduction of intergalactic trade to their planet. The Baenarn still spend just about as much time sleeping as ever though. It’s partially due to old habits, it’s partially due to how nice it feels to nap in the sun with their reptilian blood, and it’s partially due to what happens to them whenever they sleep.
The mind of a Baenarn never shuts off when they sleep. Their minds are actually still quite active. They often receive minor psychic visions of varying degrees when sleeping. It could be about anything from receiving a visitor to something happening to one very close to them at that very moment. Sometimes they even meet other Baenarn and share a temporary consciousness with them. Whatever happens while snoozing isn’t always assured to be happy. The people as a whole still feel the need to experience them though.
The Baenarn hail from Eilsarn, a planet that’s basically one enormous desert. It is because of this that they dislike any sort of cold climate. Eilsarn doesn’t have much to offer on surface other than sand and rock. Hidden from first glance, however, it’s quite rich in various mineral deposits that many other planets seek out and pay quite handsomely for. There’s always a minor hint of paranoia that they would be invaded for said resources ever since trade between planets became a regular thing for them. This has resulted in it being common for Baenarn to train themselves to fight in order to rise up and protect what was rightfully theirs. It wasn’t too hard since most of them had basic combat training before intergalactic trade reared its head on their world. With food and water somewhat scarce, skirmishes weren’t all that uncommon among themselves when it was their next meal was on the line.
Baenarn society on Eilsarn is prosperous for the most part. A single clan rules the rest of their race with one being as a figurehead to relay all decisions to the public. Whichever clan is in power changes quite often due to various political schemes and underhanded tactics. Spells and hexes are frowned upon, but still featured prominently in Baenarn culture. It’s mostly just little charms that people use openly. Baenarns that want to change their appearance, their voice, or some other trivial thing are the most common. Most other forms are cracked down upon by the authorities unless there was enough coin to line their pockets to make them look the other way. This wasn’t the case for the Zauneld clan.
The Zauneld clan was one with pretty high standing in the eyes of the public. The had ruled over Eilsarn on numerous occasions. Even though they were fairly small in comparison to other major clans, the clan leaders were no less cunning or fierce. Besides, what others had in numbers, they more than made up for with their ability to execute a variety of plots and underhanded schemes like it was nothing at all.
One member of this clan was Sharithra, the only daughter to one of the higher ups in the Zauneld clan. Shari had always been indifferent to politics, despite her clan’s overall interest in them. It always seemed so trivial to seek to rule others through underhanded means. Besides, the responsibility that came with it seemed far too much to bother with. When not busy napping in a room permeated with incense, she preferred to busy herself in pursuits that actually gave her physical results in her eyes. Combat training was always a favorite of hers. Actual power that you could feel beat hypothetical power given to you by the populace any day of the week.
Shari was also a huge fan of visiting the market whenever off-worlders came to visit and trade goods. They always had the most interesting little baubles and gadgets that Shari loved buying on a whim. It was safe to say that she was a bit spoiled when it came to that sort of thing. It was one of the perks of being part of one of the more powerful clans. She had no idea that this ideal life of hers would soon come crashing down around her.
A certain scheme of the Zauneld clan leaders was so over the top and in a completely different league compared to anything they had done before, the leaders chose to keep the rest of their clan completely in the dark about it. Over the course of a few years, the leaders of the Zauneld clan had been gathering bits and pieces they needed for a dark ritual as inconspicuously as possible. While most of the clan members were used to their leaders pulling off immoral plots, the leaders couldn’t risk this one. After all, they were bringing dark magic into the mix. The plan was to use this ritual they were building up for to spread a plague to any clan that gained more political power than they did. They were tired of ruler-ship constantly changing hands. They wanted to keep it permanently.
With everything gathered that was required for the ritual to work, the Zauneld clan finally put their plan in motion. First came the fall of the Fretlar clan when the mysterious illness that suddenly befell them. The Arelyl clan was soon to follow. Then came the Kenrahel. Many Baenarn were in panic over this disastrous event, but there were a select few that took notice of some details that were highly suspicious. A handful scholars that had focused in the study of magic realized that they had seen this illness before. The Zauneld clan leaders’ actions hadn’t gone completely unnoticed either. You don’t build up such a high reputation for underhanded tactics only to not have your actions watched as closely as possible. The dots were connected and an investigation was opened up on the Zauneld clan. The ritual was discovered after enough prodding.
It didn’t matter how high of a standing you were in; using magic of that nature was a grievous crime among the Baenarn race. The leaders of the Zauneld clan were publically executed over it via beheading. The rest of the clan was sentenced to exile, Sharithra included. Each member was ushered into a space pod and sent to different inhabited planets.
Shari spent much of her time afterwards stowing away on transport to transport, aimlessly drifting to different worlds with no real goal in mind. Although she had the feeling that her emotions over the whole ordeal should have been much stronger, all she could really feel was mild indifference over the whole thing. Was she in shock over losing her old way of life? Was it her people’s aloof nature showing itself? Were her emotions just so mixed right now that they cancelled each other out?
As the days passed, the last option seemed more and more plausible. Sure Shari was absolutely livid at what the leaders of the Zauneld clan pulled. It didn’t help that it was kept a secret from everyone else and now they all had to suffer for it when they could have stopped it before it got too far. At the same time, this was a chance to start from scratch. Shari may not have been able to spend money on every little thing that caught her fancy anymore, but she was no longer associated with a clan that specialized in shady business, nor would she be constantly goaded to try to get into the same business. Could this be a blessing in disguise?
It was time for her to go out there and make a name for herself of her choosing. Well, between naps at least. Some habits never truly die…

Ki Sensing(support) - Sharithra is able to detect those around her by picking up on their ki signatures.
Scale Blades(offensive) - Sharithra causes two sharp scimitar-like swords made from her ki to sprout from underneath her scales that run from about three feet from the end of it to her very tip. She can then rip these blades out of her tail and wield them in her hands, leave them attached to make her tail even deadlier than before, or do one of each. The length of time these blades can be sustained all depends on how well she can control her ki.
