Winta crossed his arms over his chest as he watched the humans shuffle about below him. Presently he could be found on one knee atop one of the few 'tall' yet still rather ramshackle buildings in the settlement. As he had noted the other day while traversing the settlement with Aice the city was practically covered in filth and garbage, some of the garbage was in fact bagged properly but there was no system by which this garbage was being taken away. Winta had while traveling the city noted a few individuals who took the garbage to a sort of makeshift dump site but they were not enough to cover the entirety of the settlement and even more so there dump site would barely be enough to deal with what they had as it appeared to already be reaching capacity. The smell it gave off was likewise putrid and Winta could scarcely imagine how those living around it made it through there day.
Winta knew that those individuals who had already began the work would need to be those he sought out first. And as he watched Winta spotted one of the men he had identified as one such individual. He was a Human with a fairly strong build, likely partially because of the work he was doing collecting the garbage as quite a number of the garbage bags seemed to be quite hefty. He had brown hair and an air about him that gave of at least a modicum of intelligence, enough that Winta doubted he would run in fear at the sight of himself. Winta still wore his cloak to hide himself but it was worn more loosely now. Leaping down to street level using his flight to slow his descent Winta walked over to the Human as he stopped to pick up a few bags of garbage.
"Excuse me sir." Winta called to the man who at first did not seem to realize that it was he who was being called to and thus began heading off with the bags he had collected, Winta sighed and took a few quick steps up to the man and tapped him on the shoulder immediately drawing his attention. "Huh? Whats- whoa" The man began to ask something but immediate his question was halted by his obvious surprise over Winta's appearance, the hood was up but the distance between himself and the man and Winta making no active attempt to conceal himself further allowed the man to easily see what he was speaking to. "Do not worry friend, I mean you no harm. In fact I wish to help you." Winta said gesturing toward the bags the man held. The man raised an eyebrow in clear confusion over the turn in events. "Er.. Thanks I guess, no offense.. guy.. But are you sure you're up for something like this? Its a lot of heavy lifting and not exactly the best smelling work." The man said seeming to relax slightly now that he at lest believed himself to be safe.
"Well my methods will deal with this in a far less physical manner, if you would not mind." Witna said gesturing for the man to place one of the bags on the ground. The man raised an eyebrow but did so placing it on the ground and then immediately taking a step away just in case Winta was about to do something weird. "Smart choice." Winta said with a grin before launching a wave of energy at the bag almost immediately vaporizing it while only causing minor damage to the ground beneath it due to the amount of energy used. The man stood there in awe looking from the dusty remains of the bag to Winta for a few seconds. "I... well.. Yeah I'm pretty sure you can help." The man said letting out a clearly rather confused but happy laugh. "Excellent, my name is Winta. Let us find somewhere to speak as I believe there is much we need to discuss." Winta said earning a nod from the man. "Uh yeah sure, I'm Mark, we can use my place if you like." Mark said before looking from the remaining bags to Winta. Winta nodded to his suggestion "I believe that will work, as for those toss them in the air." Witna said as a bit of a cocky smirk spread across his face. Mark as well couldn't help but grin as he first made sure the bags were stable and then tossed them into the air. Winta proceeded to eliminate the bags with one mildly charged blast and the duo proceeded to Marks home.
Marks home was in fact the remains of what had long ago been known as an apartment complex, he shared the home with a number of other occupants many of whom were apart of his collection team, the apartment itself was the building closest to the dump site which explained to Winta how those living there could do so. Being the people who collected the garbage they had a far greater tolerance for its smell and likewise they had found several things to lighten the smell in there homes to an extent, a blessing to Winta as he lacked the same level of tolerance they had. "Now what exactly do you want to talk about Winta." Mark said as he offered Winta a seat at his 'table' a clearly hand made piece of furnature that was 'frankenstiend' from the remains of several other wooden items. "By your reaction I can tell my abilities are something you are not capable of. A friend of mine informed me that you Humans have not as a whole learned to harness such power and that only those who have particular talent have managed to harness any amount of it. I wish to change this by teaching the use of Ki Control to you and others such as yourself. People working to better Humanity's lot in life." Winta explained earning an amazed look from Mark
"I.. I don't know what you really mean, all I do is collect garbage." Mark said with a laugh as he sort of shrugged off Wintas assertion that he was bettering humanity with what he did. "Yes, you are. But whether you consider it such or not doing so is to the betterment of your people. Garbage breeds disease and it is this very reason along with there general apathy towards humanity that I believe the Saiyans have not sought to enforce any cleanup work. Whether you realize it or not your work has likely saved lives. People have a slightly better quality of life because of your work. And I intend to help you improve what you do by tenfold. Your dump site is a novel concept and had managed to help concentrate the garbage into one area but it is not enough. You lack the means to properly process such garbage and sooner rather than later it will become too much. With Ki Manipulation you can eradicate the garbage rather than just pushing it off to the side." Winta explained earning wide eye realization from Mark. "That... wow yeah if I could do what you do alone I could probably do as much as the team gets done in a day." Mark said marveling at the concept. "With the whole team doing it we could probably even cover the whole settlement!" Mark exclaimed as his mind finally wrapped around the whole thing.
"Yes, though it will take time for you to build up the reserves of energy. Your dump site will serve as an excellent place to both train your power and store garbage when you run low on energy and simply cannot do any more for the day, which in the beginning will likely be rather soon sadly." Winta was quite glad Mark had caught on so quickly, he was certain he had made the right choice with this Human much as he had made the right choice when he chose to ally with Aice. And much like his alliance with Aice would likely prove a boon in the future Winta could already see where his work with Mark would benefit himself, the way Mark spoke implied he lead the group and almost certainly he would catch much of the praise for cleaning up the Ghettian Settlement. People would see him as a hero of sorts and having an alliance of sorts with a hero was always beneficial.
Winta and Mark began Marks training almost immediately, the training was primarily focused on getting Mark alone up to speed on Ki manipulation first as with Winta not being well versed in teaching it would be far more beneficial if he could teach Mark alone how to manipulate energy, make sure Mark understood how the manipulation worked, make sure he had the overall power needed to destroy at least a single bag of garbage, fine what exactly Marks limitations were and THEN allow Mark to begin working on his own. Once Mark was up to speed then he could begin teaching the rest of his team how to do what Winta had taught him with Winta making the occasional visit to provide his own knowledge and as well aid Mark when he hit a snag in his own ability to teach, something that was invariably likely to happen considering he lacked the years of training that Winta possessed and likewise Winta was not the same level of teacher that his own teachers had been. While they had not been the strongest or even the smartest Arcosians they were quite amazing at getting Winta and there other students to understand how to do what they were doing and WHY it did such.
Winta did everything in his power to impart upon Mark what he had learned, and through perhaps sheer dumb luck or Marks desperate attempts to truly 'get it' the duo managed to get Mark capable of producing enough Ki to vaporize a whole bag in just four days. Winta learned from this that the Humans did not lack a reservoir of Ki energy, they simply lacked the knowledge of how to use it both from how there old society had been and from the Saiyan oppression. Once he had 'unlocked' it Mark found his own reservoir of Ki power to actually be quite fair for someone with only DAYS of training. After Winta had concluded the 'first' portion of there training it simply was a matter of going over with Mark how Ki worked in a simple manner for him. That had taken a number of days of work due to Winta not being able to devote his full time to training Mark as he had in the beginning. During this time Mark once again too the the streets with his team, the team gathering garbage and Mark vaporizing it. As Winta had suggested what remained after Mark tired was brought to the dump site and afterward Mark would do his best to inform his team on how his new powers functioned.
Now a full two weeks after meeting Mark Winta found himself silently overseeing Mark and his team. Mark had gotten the majority of his team up to speed, while not all of them had the potential Mark possessed they could all on some level produce Ki which meant even if it was a multi person effort they were all destroying bags of garbage. Winta grinned as he watched the seven men working to clear out the dump site next to Marks apartment. Already it was half way cleared after only three days of work. Winta felt a surprising amount of pride as he watched the Humans work. Was this how his teachers had felt when he had learned something properly and executed it well? He could only hope that he had surpassed there expectations as much as these Humans had. As the team worked however Winta noticed something off, there was someone making there way toward the dump site, someone by there manner of dress alone was clearly not a human. Winta watched from above as the monkey plodded up to the dump site and blasted down the wooden fence that had once kept the garbage from flowing out. Winta was almost sad that the saiyan had the sense to open up the side that was clear, it would have been truly hilarious to watch him bury himself in garbage.
"Oi you rats, attention!" The saiyan called out grabbing the immediate attention of the garbage crew, Mark immediately stepped forward placing himself between the other members of his crew and the Saiyan. "Yes... sir?" Mark said through gritted teeth, Winta knew that Mark like many despised the saiyans but Marks hate was a bit more... personal. He'd lost his family to Saiyan slavers, he'd once evne tried saving them only to learn they had already died. It was amazing to Winta that the man could even bring himself to call the saiyan 'sir'. "I've been sent to clear you rats out of here. No more of this garbage cleanup shit. You can take care of your own but the rest of the filth out there has to deal with there own." The saiyan said with a self righteous smirk. Marks eye narrowed as they locked with the Saiyan. "I'm sorry sir but thats just not going to happen. We're helping whether you or anyone else likes it." Mark his words utterly laced with anger and hatred for the Saiyan. "What? Are you really this stupid? Do you think you've actually got a CHOICE? Maybe I said it a bit too nicely. You stop this shit or you and your lot die." The saiyan said clearly annoyed that Mark had not simply fallen in line.
Winta could already tell this man was far more used to dealing with Slave Humans, ones that simply heeded his orders no matter how awful. He momentarily thought of simply jumping in and taking over, fighting the Saiyan himself rather than letting this progress into the brawl he could already see happening between Mark and the Saiyan. But apart of him wanted to see just how far his 'student' had come and Mark would never be able to advance himself if Winta simply did everything for him. That had been why Winta had not simply done the garbage clean up himself, if he had the Humans would have gained nothing but a few days of clean streets. Now they had a group that was working towards cleaning the whole of the settlement. There efforts were certainly months in the making, more if more saiyans like this one were sent to 'deal' with the 'problem' but Winta was certain Mark would achieve his goal
"Like I said. No. We wont be stopping." Mark said, the rest of the team had seemed apprehensive at first but hearing the conviction in there leaders voice had been more than enough to bring them around and Mark now found himself standing down the saiyan with the whole of his crew cheering him on. The saiyan was utterly infuriated. "How dare you! I'll show you you filthy rat! I'll kill you!" the saiyan roared as he charged at Mark. Mark put up an immediate defense pulling his arms up in the same style Winta had seen him use in there brief spars, the man used a style of combat that was known as 'boxing' primarily focusing on punching it was a old style from before the saiyans. His ancestors had by Marks words once competed in tournaments centered around the style. Mark held a very strong defense against the Saiyan managing to block and counter many of the monkeys attacks even managing to land a few solid blows himself. But then the monkey started playing to the fact that he had far more training than Mark. He used his greater speed and maneuverability to out pace Mark and began to slowly build an advantage against him.
Winta began to worry that perhaps Mark simply would not be able to stand against the saiyan for much longer, that was until Mark's fist ignited with the familiar grey energy that Mark used to vaporize garbage day in and day out. It appeared necessary really was the mother of invention as Mark had on the fly developed a technique of his own. But Winta could already see the saiyan moving to defend himself. His arms raised in defense Winta could see that Marks attack even if enhance by his Ki wouldn't end this, and with the state Mark was in this was certainly his last chance. With a smirk Winta pointed his finger at a bag of garbage not too far from the saiyan. The bag glowed faintly with purple energy as it flung itself at the Saiyan catching him completely off guard and causing him to drop his defense. Mark then nailed the saiyan dead center in the chest sending him flying into the garbage heap when then caused the heap the collapse onto the saiyan burying him completely. Mark looked around after the battle but only barely managed to catch a glimpse of Winta as he waved a goodbye to the man and took off. Mark would be more than capable of defending his home and was now aware of the need to train. Soon his men would be up to the task of fighting alongside him and almost certainly the saiyans would lose interest in putting them down if it became too much of a hassle. Winta would leave Mark and his crew to there devices for now and return later to see how far they had progressed.
Winta knew that those individuals who had already began the work would need to be those he sought out first. And as he watched Winta spotted one of the men he had identified as one such individual.
