"C'mon big shot! You can do better than that!"
The large large man thrust his hands back and forth while alternating hands. Bolts of energy balls screeched to live in the palm of his hands within milliseconds and half a second later the ki blasts spread out over the area like rainfall and pelt down onto the isolated ground. It was a mine of explosions, the saiyan shot them out like a machine gun one after the other while the small little Haku could barely launch two at a time. It was another one of his father's rigorous training drills, and while he could fight from the comfort of flight, the little boy could do nothing but squirm and flounder across the mine field of exploding spheres.
"It's no fair!" he cried, "come face me like a saiyan and watch how I wipe that smug look on your face!"
Promptly after finishing his fleeting taunt, he had to make a barrel roll for the impending ball of ki which threatened to leave the boy bald and mullet-less. He dodged by a hair; the ground behind him bursting into a cloud of debris and dust. Haku cocked his right hand back with his eyes slanted at his father and that mocking expression over his face. The ball of ki fluctuated in his hands and foreboding a possibly dud, but the anger rising within his veins helped kindle the flame of his fighting prowess and the insecure bulb of light flared into a mighty steamroller. The warm and fuzzy sensation on his hands was one he thought he'd never get used to, but that was besides the point. His lips curled into a presumptuous grin.
"You call that an energy ball? PATHETIC!"
Hakusai's eyes gleaned with ferocity and passionate fire. He wished with every fiber of his prepubescent body to make his father take back his annoying words. With that single goal in mind he launched that successful ball of ki with all his might only to watch it become absorbed by his father's much more effective yet ridiculing weak attack. His eyes widened and the boy made an impossible effort to avoid it in the nick of time; his body bent back against the waist and hands wailed beside him for balance as the radiating ball of ki passed overhead, leaving nothing but its warmth where would have been Haku's defeat. He glared at his father; if only looks could kill...
"Your enemies wont come down to you in a real battle, Hakusai. I've told you time and time again, yet you wont listen to me. Stop prancing around and practice your flight control, it's a tactical weakness -one they will wear and tear until you're down to your knees."
Haku grimaced. He didn't want to be lectured, he wanted to fight! The boy bent his knees for an impulse. Energy surged throughout his body and cranked up his muscles; with a desperate desire to fly like his father, he lifted off the ground, leaving a crater in his wake. The boy jumped so high into the air it actually startled the man for it made the illusion of flying. His diagonal jump was accidentally, but favorably given a boost by the pompous and loud echo of his ranting voice, "Don't patronize me!" he roared. Short lived, the thought of actually achieving flight through pure skill and will was washed down the drain by an evident bluff as his displacement over the air was brought to a halt. Haku could feel his velocity decreasing and he flapped his arms as if he were trying to swim the half meter between he and his father. Heh! the man snickered. His scornful grin being the last thing the boy saw on his way back down towards the earth. The boy shifted his body midair and cursed, extending his hand forward with the middle finger standing out at his father before he crash landed into the ground with a BOOM! and was then engulfed by the cloud of dust.
Haku's father didn't seem to be very fond of his gesture, although comical in every sense of the word, he couldn't allow this behavior from his son -not at him. The once jolly-ish man was reduced to a disapproving scowl. He didn't care how much people praised him or how naturally talented he was, the boy would be put in his place. Just as Haku was pulling himself back up from the ground he started charging his next ki blast, though his concentration was broken from the loud landing of his father. Haku gulped. Even within the obtrusive cloud of debris he could tell by the silhouette and the alerting vibe emitting from his father that... he was grounded.
All he could see was a flash of light before he realized he had been hit squarely in the face, a second later he saw the daylight of the scorching sun and became conscious of his flying status. He was finally soaring through the air, although not by his own power. The laws of nature and the after-effects of his begetter were the ones to be thanked for this great achievement, and those same hands were the ones to bring him back to the ground with another whopping punch to the solar plexus. Haku's eyes widened and let out an audible grunt going down to the surface, to which he was utterly floored.
His armor was already cracked and missing a shoulder, his knees scraped and his nose dripping blood. Everything Haku knew was thanks to his father. The man knew all his weaknesses, his strengths, and his Achilles heel. Haku may be a prodigious fighter, but that lay in physical prowess alone, his manipulation of energy wasn't much to gawk at -unless he was utterly annoyed. Just as the progenitor made his eventful appearance once again, his next blow was intercepted and overwhelmed by the boys monstrous tantrum. "AAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!" His screams consisted of three fazes: first wave stopped his father's assault, the second pushed him off balance, and the third came off with all the force of his utterly enraged spirit -ultimately, propelling the man away like a rag-doll.
The father and son bonding hadn't ended though, the boy couldn't fly but he had reasonable speed to make up for it and so he followed his father's trajectory with his tiny feet. Haku lept into the air, matching the saiyan's fleeting speed, and rammed the soles of his feet into his face. The man went head first into the ground. Haku huffed and puffed, his nostrils flared. He looked at the man above, but his little heart skipped a beat when the ground crumbled beneath his feet and disintegrated as his father's energy surged.
"Don't forget we live together, boy."
Haku narrowed his eyes and spread his hands to either side, "Come at me bro!"
The poor smart mouth just didn't know when to quit. He instantly regretted saying that whence he saw the fire in his father's eyes. Seconds later the man dashed and they were engaged in close-quarter combat. Although this was where the boy exceeded, his father kept pointing out how flight was such a huge advantage by hovering inches from the ground while they fought in rapid movement; this meant he could use all four limbs, two more than Haku could manage at a single moment. His small body was advantageous though for he could duck under many attacks and jumped over the lower ones. The power struggle continued down the slope of the terrain. Their incandescent auras were burning through each other, a battle apart from their own.
BOOM! BAM! BANG! the final three strikes met colloquially in respect to each other, but as always his father had the upper hand. Haku cringed at the incoming thrust and crossed his arms overhead. His energy barrier was summoned in defense but the absence of the blow puzzled him. Haku opened an eye to peek between his arms, his father was standing still and observing; reason for which was soon discovered. The boys rather fortuitous energy barrier barely lasted a half minute before it blinked out. His father grinned. He gulped. The saiyan cocked his hand back. Haku closed his eyes.
"Let's see you grit those teeth!"
POW!
